Ruby Kisses "Real Women Makeover" Contest Part 4

Round 2.....If you remember in the previous video (Round1) they were suppose to eliminate 2 of us but since there was a tie for first place (I was one of them) and a tie for second place they only eliminated 1 contestant. In this round 4 of us compete to create a look based on the inspiration image. The twist was we didn't receive the image until right before the camera started rolling. Talk about having to thinking fast on your feet. We also only had 15 mins to do this look!! For those of you that have ever done your eye makeup understand that 15 mins isn't a lot of time when you know what look you are doing so to not know is even more of a challenge. Also add in that this was the first time seeing or using most of the Ruby Kisses products. Some were still in the wrapper when the time started. Luckily I was smart enough to have my model help me open a few products that i was pretty sure I would need.

This round was a bit of a struggle for me because I am not the fastes artist. Dont get me to talking....lol. I slow down to a snails pace. The judges were walking around and asking questions qhile we were working so I was really nervous I wouldnt complete this is time. My model was even worried at one point. She made sure to remind me of the time but still keep me calm.

Well check out my look and let me know what you think :)

Ruby Kisses "Real Women Makeover" Contest Part 3

A few hours before the contest I was still hesitant about my participation but had already given my word. I wasn't sure how I was going to balance my other commitment of working The Makeup Show and the doing the contest at the same time. On top of that I hadn't done any preparation for the contest and I didn't even have a model. Thank goodness for great friends, my bff Ty Brown went scouring the crowd of attendees to find me a model. I couldn't have picked a better model if I had planned it. Having Carla Reed as my model was definitely not by chance. Not only does she have amazing bone structure but her positive energy and supportive words kept me motivated through out the contest.

So check out Round 1 of the challenge which had all 5 of us competing to make a flawless face with foundation and contour.

I couldn't hear the judges so I had no idea what was going on the whole time.....lol.

Smurfette Rocks....."Accessories That Pop"

I remember growing up and loving the Smurfs. I even tried to take on the nickname Smurfette no one ever really called me that so it didn't stick. But a little secret about me is that I was part of a break dancing crew called The Smurfette Rockers...lol. I so wish I had a picture but unfortunately I dont. Its sounds cool to call it a "break dancing crew" but I assure you we weren't that cool at all.

With the much anticipated movie "The Smurfs" due to hit theaters on July 29, 2011 it seems Ms. Smurfette has found herself back in the limelight again and quite the fashionista to boot. So trendy that even Harper's Bazaar did a 4 page feature on her in their August issue. Its so super cute I just had to share.

How freakin cute is this??!!

Ruby Kisses "Real Women Makeover" Contest Part 2

Here we go with Part 2 of the Ruby Kisses "Real Women Makeover" Challenge web series!!

This is kind of exciting, like waiting for the next episode of your favorite reality TV show only you don't have to wait a whole week for the next part. This video introduces a few of the amazing judges (another reason I was so nervous) and our wonderful hosts. We had special guest appearances from YouTube Sensations Ateya from AteyaTV.com and Koren of EnKoremakeuponline.com along with Elessa Jade aka Pursebuzz.

The competition was set like any other reality TV competition ( I felt like I was on American Idol or something...lol) where 5 contestants will receive a challenge that must be completed within the a set amount of time. After time is up the judges review the work and someone is eliminated (like Survivor...voted off the island). Noted Fashion/Beauty photographer Brandon Showers (i'm feeling a little ANTM now), World Renowned Makeup Artist Kevin James Bennett, and Celebrity Makeup Artist Victoria Stiles were a few of the super talented panel brought together to judge this competition.

and so in my best Cat Deely voice "Here are yoooouuuurrr JUDGES"

So what do you think? Wouldnt you be scared too...lol?

Ruby Kisses "Real Women Makeover" Contest

Some of you may know that I recently participated in the Ruby Kisses "Real Women Makeover" Challenge held at The Makeup Show NY 2011. This was my first ever makeup competition and I was actually quite nervous. I was especially nervous when I heard that this would be the first ever web series contest to kick off the launching of Ruby Kisses new line of products. I barely like to have my picture taken but a when I heard the words "video camera" I almost changed my mind about participating....lol. I'm not comfortable in front of the camera which still keeps me from making you tube video's but I dont think I did too bad.

I will be doing several post giving detail about the company, pictures from the contest and even videos from the web series that was created for the contest. Here is part 1 of the 6 part web series. Make sure to leave a comment letting me know how you think I did :)

Happy 4th of July ....Make Up For Ever Style

I happily worked this Independence Day at the Make Up For Ever Boutique at Sephora SoHo, it's always so much fun. Such an interesting dynamic of customers and a group of super talented and creative artist.

Here is how we showed our patriotism...

Patriotic to my fingertips :)

My face was painted by an amazing French man (I forgot his name) but eyes and lips were done by me.

Val is the amazing Lead Resident Artist for the Make Up For Ever Boutique at Sephora SoHo and here he is working is artistic magic on Derek a regular freelancer at the store.

A close up of Val's work.

Derek created this master piece including the New York City skyline and even the Statue of Liberty. This picture does no justice.

The lovely Frenchman did Jennifer's makeup too!

I'm always so inspired when I leave there. I really need to step up my avante garde and creative makeup skills. I will definitely be posting some of my creations.

Did you do anything fun and creative to show your holiday spirit?
